About Me
Great to meet you, and I am happy that you're here.

My name is Helon Belton. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, as well as an Army Veteran. I bring both professional training and lived experience into the work I do, which allows me to connect with clients in a grounded, genuine way.
I take a personalized, integrative approach to therapy. That means we’ll work together to understand your unique experiences, challenges, and goals, and build a path forward that fits you—not a one-size-fits-all model. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, supported, and understood.
I work with a diverse range of individuals navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, and substance use. Whether you're working through past experiences or facing changes in your current life, therapy can help you move forward with more clarity and confidence.
As an EMDR Certified Therapist, I use EMDR along with inner-child and attachment-focused work to help process past experiences and reduce the emotional weight they carry. I also incorporate evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you better understand your thoughts, regulate emotions, and stay present in your day-to-day life.
In addition to individual therapy, I offer group therapy using Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), a structured, evidence-based approach that supports self-reflection, accountability, and long-term behavioral change.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. When you’re ready, I’m here to support you.

My Philosophy
I believe therapy should feel safe, supportive, and tailored to you. My approach is rooted in understanding you as a whole person—your experiences, your strengths, and what you want to change.
I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach, which means we focus on your unique needs rather than following a fixed process. Early in our work, we’ll explore your story, your current challenges, and what you want to feel different in your life.
Our work moves at a pace that feels manageable. Therapy is collaborative—you are the expert on your life, and I’m here to guide and support you as you gain insight, build skills, and create meaningful change.
Depending on your needs, we may focus on developing coping strategies, identifying and shifting negative core beliefs, exploring relationship patterns, or processing deeper emotional experiences. Over time, many clients begin to feel more grounded, more self-aware, and better able to respond to life with clarity and intention.
This process is about growth, healing, and creating a life that feels more balanced and aligned with who you are.
What to Expect
From Counseling Sessions
Starting therapy can feel uncertain, but my goal is to make the process as comfortable and clear as possible.
From the beginning, I focus on creating a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can speak openly without fear of judgment. You can expect a calm, grounded environment where you’re encouraged to be yourself.
In our first session (the intake), we’ll take time to explore your story, current challenges, and what you’d like to feel different in your life. This includes discussing your background and identifying key areas of focus so we can begin building a personalized plan for your care.
Ongoing sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs. We may focus on developing coping skills, working through specific challenges, or processing deeper experiences—always at a pace that feels manageable for you.
At the end of sessions, we’ll often take a few moments to reflect on what stood out and how it applies to your day-to-day life. At the start of future sessions, we’ll check in on progress, challenges, and any updates so we can continue moving forward in a meaningful way.
Therapy is a process, and over time many clients begin to feel more clarity, stability, and confidence in how they navigate their lives.

Is this a good Fit?
Therapy is most effective when you feel comfortable and connected with your therapist. Here are some general guidelines to help you decide if I may be a good fit for you.
I may be a good fit if you:
-
Are open to exploring your thoughts, emotions, and past experiences
-
Want a collaborative, supportive approach where you are actively involved in the process
-
Are working through trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, or substance use
-
Are interested in developing practical skills while also doing deeper emotional work
-
Value a space that is nonjudgmental, steady, and focused on long-term growth
I may not be the best fit if you:
-
Are looking for quick fixes without engaging in the therapeutic process
-
Prefer a highly directive, advice-only style of therapy
-
Are not ready to explore or reflect on underlying patterns or experiences
If you’re unsure, that’s completely okay—we can talk through what you’re looking for and see if working together feels right.
